Our History

Established in 1974 by Robert John Cartwright (Bob), Cartwrights Lawyers has been a long-standing part of the Noosa community.

In 1985 Michael Richardson joined Bob in his small office in the main street of Noosa Junction.

To allow for our growing client base the firm relocated to our current location at Bottlebrush Avenue in 1992. In 2002 Tebbett & Ostwald Solicitors merged with Bob and Michael – a move which allowed each Partner to focus their skills and practice areas to better serve their clients.

Already employed as a Solicitor with Cartwrights Lawyers for 8 years, Craig Griffin became a Partner in 2006. At this time Bob was retained as a Consultant to the firm. Bob remains as a Consultant at Cartwrights Lawyers with a view to retiring in the near future.

Michael Richardson retired in 2010 after 48 years of legal practice. In 2012 Glyn Tebbett retired after 31 years of legal practice.

Local solicitor Chris Brinkley and his team also became part of Cartwrights Lawyers in 2013.

Bob and Michael will continue their involvement with the firm for years to come as their daughters Clare and Anna are both Associate Solicitors with Cartwrights Lawyers.

Throughout the firm’s history we have prided ourselves on combining professionalism and diligence with the personal attention necessary to ensure our clients’ needs are met.

Over the past 39 years we have grown from a modest start to be one of the area’s largest firms. Today we have 2 partners, 6 employed solicitors, 6 conveyancers and more than 15 support staff, all committed to furthering our clients’ interests and those of our community.
